Now that you have settled on a home-based business, it is essential that you be organized in your endeavors. There are many things we could address but let’s start with a few basics.
You have probably invested some money into various programs that offer you money making opportunities on the internet. Keep records of the money you are spending. If you are truly serious about having a home-based business, set up a corporation and funnel all of the business finances through the corporation. This can help protect your personal finances as well as strengthen your tax situation. It is best to talk with an accountant or tax professional to learn all of the specifics involved. But whatever you decide to do, keep track of your expenses and income.
We all know there is a learning curve in establishing a home-based business, no matter how many programs you have bought into or how many promises of overnight wealth you have received. Many of us can get discouraged because we get so much information we get overwhelmed and can’t seem to implement all or any of it. But there is hope.
Begin today with a new slate and start fresh. First define your goal beginning today and establish what you would like to see happen in the next twelve months. Organize the steps of your progress toward your goal. Take one thing at a time and implement that item. Practice writing articles and ads even if you don’t post them. I agree that setting goals has to be the first step in business success. From there you can start making real plans. Break up the task into manageable pieces and go from there. A little each day.
Planning is the key to success I think and organisation is vitally important. You have some good tips about how to manage the finances of your business.
I would also like to run my own business from home. As I have a family and I´ve been travelling a lot in the last years, I would like to have some more time to spend with my family now.

Automating or outsourcing daily tasks depends on the individual and your resources in terms or time, money, and talent. Each person must evaluate their strengths and determine if he can effectively perform these tasks himself or whether it is more efficient and cost effective to have someone else perform them.

this is so true. I run a business and both my business partner and I are pretty hopeless with goals, administration, all that kind of stuff, and as a result we have wandered aimless for years. It’s now time to set proper goals and timeframes, like you suggest, so that hopefully we can begin to actually make some progress and stop wasting resources!

Nice post. The biggest challenge I had when I started my homebased business 4 years ago was Procrastination. To overcome this I am now in the routine of writing my To Do list the night before the next day – hope that makes sense? So when I get up and walk into the office I’m not spending time writing a To Do List – because it is already there to start working on.
Another point is establishing a routine. It may not work for others but it surely works for me, as I look after my two children aswell.
